As the youth of today, we know and have seen the hurt in which people are going through. That’s why we formed OJM - to put a stop to it. We want to strive to work towards ensuring that all people in our world feel loved and accepted. To spread the word of God and show people that God loves us no matter what.
The youth of today are the leaders of tomorrow and if the youth aren’t aware of the issues and are not been shown what they can do, then what is the future? OJM are creating a new generation that are making a positive difference in our world, we are planning for a better tomorrow.
As Pope Francis said ‘I want to see the church get closer to the people. I want to get rid of clericalism, the mundane, this closing ourselves off within ourselves.’ This spoke to us and through prayer and discussion, God spoke to us with one message, Overflow: Justice and Mission. So we are going to go out and show the youth that peace and love is the only way for our world to move forward.
OVERFLOW: Justice and Mission, we are going to serve the community under God’s mission given to us through many different and exciting ways that include:
• Primary/High School Visits
o Workshops
o Presentations
o Day Retreats
o Jam for Justice Events
• Parish/Church Visits
o Workshops
o Presentations
o Day Retreats
o Jam for Justice Events
o Praise and Worship Sessions
o Lead/Participate in Mass
o Lead/Participate in Youth Group Events
• Fundraising Events
o 4 charities every year, 3 month campaigns
o Other Charity events
• Promote/Support Various Charities
• Promote/Support Youth Groups/Communities (eg. IGNITE YOUTH)
• Provide support for teenagers in need
• Get teenagers to know God and the word of God. To show what Catholicism really is and show ‘normal’ society that religion actually is ‘cool’!
• OVERFLOW Youth Group for young adults/teenagers
o A Youth Group that inspires and motivates the youth of today to go out into this world and create real positive change
o A Youth Group that can connect with each other and feel wanted and loved. A place of welcoming, accepting and supporting place for people of all backgrounds, race, sexuality, disabilities, etc.
o A Youth Group that provides support to teenagers that need that extra help, or someone to talk too.
